JCI Bamban Kayabe attended the 28th JCI Area 1 Conference last September 5-7, 2008 hosted by JCI Alicia Kapagayan of Cagayan Valley bringing in four major awards and one merit award for local chapter efficiency award. The major awards comprise the following:
-Best in Community Development Program: Adop-A-Museum -Best in International Development Program: Global Peace Network -Best in Cultural Affairs Program: Project Bamban Day 2008 -Best in Educational for Peace Program: Oplan Pasyal Bata (Museum Tour for School Children)
The Bamban delegation was led by its President, JCI Mem. Rhonie Dela Cruz along with JCI members Rey Ariston, Leonor Dela Cruz, Eugene Pineda, and Luisito Caguiat. Aside from the awarding ceremonies (UNO Awards), there were several activities that included the opening ceremony, various seminars, plenary sessions, and tour at Aglipay Caves. The Area 1 covers provinces north of Manila particularly those from the Central Luzon, Pangasinan, Ilocandia, and Cagayan Valley. Guest speaker during the awarding ceremony was Gov. Grace Padaca of Isabela Province who was a recepient of Ramon Magsaysay Award for Government Service.
